Private investigations by Dire Straights - Music Score and TABS for Solo Guitar Arrangement

I have a special admiration for Dire Straits. The way how they built arrangements around musical masterpieces of Mark Knopfler always stroke me as phenomenal. I believe their particular style comes out of the fact that Mark mostly composed on guitar. So I assume they built the arrangements around that certain character he had in mind, making the room in the arrangement and post-production for the guitar to shine. I hope I get the chance to ask Mark about it one day...

In an incredible repertoire they created, "Private Investigations" has a special place. It is a unique and masterful composition. The long, atmospheric intro rolls like a cloud, takes all the time in the world and perfectly sets the stage for a tale of disillusionment of a private investigator. The band's musicianship throughout the piece showcasing incredible interplay between the guitar, marimba, piano, drums and base is just truly impressive. How did they manage making such a long piece lasting 6:45 in the 80's that made it to the MTV, I have no idea.

Anyhow, I have always enjoyed playing this song and I still keep coming back to it. It is a must-play for every guitar player, in my humble opinion.

Enclosed in the download are the music sheets (scores and tabs in pdf) and a locked Guitar Pro 8 file (locked means you can't edit, only playback). Giving Guitar Pro a spin for a trial period of 30 days might be a good idea (I am not affiliated to them, I only use their software to write the scores). I think Guitar Pro might be a valuable tool for practicing when you simply want to change speed of the track and follow the scores at the same time, for instance.

Unless you prefer to get away from the screen at least while playing guitar, that also has its own benefits...
